ABOUT PROJECT
ISOLASI - Malaysian Zombie Short film Teaser
'ISOLASI' is a Malaysian Zombie Shortfilm as part of MMU Faculty of Cinematic Arts Student's Final Year Project. Dark Comedy is the theme of our film and language will be in Bahasa Malaysia.
It explores grief, fatherhood and second chances, presented through Dark Comedy.
STORY
Salleh, a middle aged man in search of parts to rebuild an item from his past, runs into a cocky teenage girl, Natasha as they go in search of her mother in exchange the remaining parts, Saleh requires, while surviving in a desolate shopping mall, set in post-apocalyptic Malaysia, ran by zombies.
CHARACTER CONFLICT
The two characters in ISOLASI have their own challenges, Salleh dealing with loss, trauma and regrets, unable to let go of his past, while Natasha despite seeming independant, needs her mother. Besides the Zombie that roam the mall, they also have to deal with each other's personality, A frustarted man and a cocky teenage girl.
Through the film, they will get used to each other and soon start to bond, while in search of what they want.
DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT
I grew up with parents that constantly fought and eventually the falling out of their marriage affected for years, being the small elephant inbetween two big ones, it was hard to let go of all the trauma, at the same time I missed the presence of my grandmother who was there for me more than my mum, which made it hard for me when I lost her and had to deal with everything myself. Hiding in the shadow's and keeping quiet dealing with it, soon led to my depression, anxiety and adjustment disorder, causing me to distant myself from people, especially my own parents. Both characters in this film have traits similar to mine, Salleh being the one depressed and unbale to adjust to what happened, and Natasha, a child who still feel the need for her parent figure around.
My goal in the film is to deliver an entertaining story through these character, having them bring the audience along for the ride as they go from driving each other crazy to becoming more united. Audiences will feel Saleh's struggle through his trauma and regrets and see a side of people that is often hidden to prevent shame. In short, this is not just a Zombie film with comedy and action, but more of a human story in a inhuman world. How we all struggle with our own demons, make mistakes but always deserve second chances. With the help of my crew members and their talents, we will bring you a film that wil be the one of the most ambitious projects we have made, and a story that will bring you along the ride, and acheive the best possible outcome.

THE CAST
We believe that if the actor embodies the personality of the actor, the performance will be natural, but at the same time they need to exhibit emotions of all sorts and have chemistry with minor stunts.
These are the two actors we have as highest consideration, but we are open to looking for other talents that possibly fit the characters well.
THE FUEL TO FILL OUT TANK!
The reality is that, as excited as we are to do this, it is going to cost us a lot. We will need RM16000 to make this film a reality, It seems a lot for a shortfilm but its goes into a few factors.
1. Location
- We are planning a mall shoot, that would means we would need to rent an abandoned mall.
2. Cast
- Our casts would need accommadation and meals.
- Our casts hardwork will be covered.
3. Production Design
- Zombie makeup for the extras, is not easy and cheap, so the funds will go to the Makeup Artist's hardwork and materials
- Our mall needs to looks look like it was abandoned with dead bodies and remnants of the chaos, so the Production Design will need cash to make the world real
4. Equipment Rental
- Camera and Lighting. We will be needing extra equipment to achieve the Director and Director of Photography's vision.
5. Post-Production
- Editing and Sound Design. Our film will require a soundscape that brings the world of the undead to reality complimenting the visuals, and music to build the emotions. This will immerse the audience into the story further.
- Marketing. We are making this film with the aim that other people will see it also, through national and international film festivals.

ABOUT PROJECT
ISOLASI - Malaysian Zombie Short film Teaser
